I am so happy that I could lend my support!
On the way home from a wedding last night I believe that I participated in Minneapolis' latest and greatest means of catching traffic offenders. This of course would be the "Stop on Red" cameras that they have placed strategically at high incident corners.
Here's how it all went down:
- After leaving the Blaisdell Manor Dan handed the keys to me because according to him I know Minneapolis "about a hundred times better than he does.
- Since there are only certain streets that you can access 35W on we started down Nicollet in the hopes of finding one.
- Finally, I turned left on 36th St. E, elated to see a sign for 35W southbound and as I pull through an intersection there is a series of three lights, something akin to fast bolts of lightening that go off.
- It is then that I realize that I have gone through an intersection with a stop light and my mind goes back to a recent news story that I heard about these nifty little cameras that catch red light dashers.
Well, we'll find out within 14 days if the officer who reviews my incident deems it worthy of a ticket. If he does then I'll shell out $130 to make it go away. If only the officer could see the whole picture: the way in which I diligently follow the speed limit, yield to pedestrians and use my turn signal. If they could see all that then he wouldn't give me a ticket for an intersection where the lights are barely visible from where they sit on either corner. Donations accepted!

Oh NO!!!!!!!!!!
I am just glad that you didn't get into an accident. I know that I have had a lot of close calls while driving downtown. $130 is a lot less than a broken car and your deductible. I am glad that you are okay and hopefully you won't get the ticket. Love you! Susan
